Let’s Talk about Closing the Gender Gap - A Panel Discussion
Join us on January 30th as WCT commits to closing the gender gap in broadcast, media and technology industries in Canada.
A cumulative event celebrating the release of WCT's white paper Closing the Gender Gap: A Blueprint for Women's Leadership, this event brings together business leaders to discuss the current landscape, and how WCT's findings can create a sea-change in diversity and inclusion in Canada.
The panel will be moderated by Carolyn Jarvis, Network Investigative Reporter with Global News.
|Barbara Williams, COO of Corus Entertainment||Paul Vallee, President and CEO of Pythian||Jules Andrew, SVP Enterprise, Operations and Payments, RBC|
Celebrating the launch of WCT's latest research Closing the Gender Gap: A Blueprint for Women's Leadership, the panelists will share what works, and doesn't work, in their organizations. As leaders in small, medium and large organizations in the media, technology and fintech industries, each panelist has unique experiences and stories about women's engagement and advancement in the workplace. The discussion will touch on all areas of diversity in the workplace - from quotas to pay equity to sexual harassment, and everything in between.
What you can expect from the conversation:
- Is your organization creating a culture that supports gender diversity?
- Why do some organizations continue to struggle to engage women?
- Should quotas be in place to move the needle forward?
- How can we hold ourselves accountable?
There will be an opportunity to ask questions following the panel discussion.
This event will draw business leaders, HR professionals, diversity experts and women and men from across the GTA. Take advantage of the opportunity to network with peers and seniors in the local digital workplace. Refreshments are provided in the ticket price.
About the Report
From the 12th of September 2016 to April 18, 2017, WCT conducted a series of seven roundtable discussions across Canada to explore the known universe of strategies, policies and programs for the engagement and advancement of women in digital industries. We set out to learn what was working and not working in present approaches and, hopefully, to encounter new ideas that haven’t been put into practice yet.
Roundtable participants were generous, articulate, and in many cases impassioned in the presentation of their views. Input from over 250 leaders provided consistent themes, with clear recommendations for women and employers. Learn more about the Blueprint for Women's Leadership Roundtables.
