Melissa Carvalho, RBC
Melissa Carvalho, RBC Global Cyber Security Vice President, leads the bank’s Enterprise and Customer Identity Management group, a team of over 200 security professionals providing cyber solutions and services for RBC’s 80,000 employees and 16 million clients.
Melissa is a results-driven professional recognized for successfully delivering critical, high-risk initiatives for large organizations. As an adept and innovative leader with extensive experience in managing all aspects of information technology including business needs impact assessments, software development and infrastructure implementations, Melissa consistently leads and motivates individuals to maximize productivity, while managing relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.
Through her career, Melissa has developed and implemented identity strategies to promote organizational growth and improve operational efficiency, including implementing Identity Programs at Canada’s five major banks and consulting on over 50 IAM programs across North America.
When not working, Melissa is an avid traveler having traveled to over 50 countries across all seven continents.
Jeff Schwartz, Check Point
Jeff Schwartz, CISSP, is Vice President of North America Engineering at Check Point, where he manages all aspects of technical operations and resources for the company in the region. Jeff manages a team of over 200 engineers across multi-disciplinary fields and is responsible for all security engineering resources across a $1 billion business. Over his 20-year career in cybersecurity, Jeff has consulted, designed and overseen the implementation of the largest network security deployments within every major vertical throughout both the Fortune 500 and major government agencies.
Principal Security Consultant, Security Compass
Toronto Chapter Lead, OWASP
Opheliar Chan spends most of her time trying to make application security more accessible, pragmatic, and FUD-free, both as Principal Consultant at Security Compass, and while moonlighting as co-lead of the OWASP Toronto Chapter. For over a decade, she has focused on application security, SDLC process consulting and implementations, program building, penetration testing/vulnerability assessments, and related. Prior to her career in consulting, she worked in security research, web application development, and technical writing.

Heather Ricciuto, BBA, PMP®
Heather is Global Leader of IBM Security’s Academic Outreach Program, striving to address the skills gap through education.
She is the co-leader of IBM’s Women in Security Excelling (WISE) Business Resource Group. With over 800 members, WISE aims to bring awareness and change to the cybersecurity gender gap through education, events and youth outreach. Heather is particularly passionate about inspiring our youth to aspire to careers in STEM, and about driving awareness around the cybersecurity skills and gender gaps. She is a proud Co-Founder of IBMCyberDay4Girls, a program designed to build cybersecurity awareness amongst middle school girls. The IBMCyberDay4Girls program has touched the lives of 2.5K girls in the US, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Nigeria, UK, Ireland and India since its launch in October 2016.
Heather strives to inspire others by sharing her passion for leadership and learning. She believes that if we are not learning, we are not growing. Her passions include workforce diversity, the advancement of women, volunteering, continuous learning, travelling, and spending time with her family.

Niranjan Mayya, RANK Software
Niranjan is the Founder & President of RANK Software, a Toronto based start-up in the space of real time security analytics, threat hunting and detection. Prior to founding RANK, Niranjan led the Big Data team at RIM (Blackberry) that was responsible for Contextual Systems and Analytics. His prior roles have been as VP of Technology at Viigo (acquired by RIM) and VP of Software Development at Pulse Microsystems. He has several worldwide patents in the areas of computer graphics, Internet systems and computer algorithms. Niranjan holds an engineering undergraduate from University of Poona, India and a PhD in Computer Science from University of Florida.
